Google in 2023 has updated the Googlebot’s IP addresses in the JSON files. It has been seen in light that Google has added the new IP6 IP and IP4 IP address to the list.
What is IPv4?
IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) is the fourth version of the IP protocol, and is the most widely used version of IP. It uses 32-bit addresses, which allows for a total of about 4.3 billion unique addresses. However, with the rapid growth of the internet, the number of available IPv4 addresses has been running out, and this has led to the development of IPv6.
What is IPv6?
IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is the latest version of the IP protocol. It uses 128-bit addresses, which allows for a total of 340 trillion, trillion, trillion unique addresses. This is a much larger number than the number of IPv4 addresses, and should be enough to last for a long time. IPv6 also includes a number of other improvements over IPv4, such as improved security and the ability to support more efficient routing.
What is the update in the JSON file?
In the current live JSON file in which the two new IP addresses are shown up are as follows:
